This more than three years old drawing still looks nice, even though many details feel wrong to me now. I remember I used some photo from google as reference, It took me hours till I found this one (probably could not choose better though) I used it for the chopper proportions and jumping soldiers. As this is one of my last "big" drawings so I was already smart enough to leave the environment rough.
Just the grass could have bean pushed down a bit more...

some crappy pencils and A-4 format

We lost a lot brave Men over there back in Veitman, but would have a lot lost more, had it not been for the Brave Men who flew in the Huey, going out there either to rain down hot lead on the enemy's porsitions, or to drop off troops in some LZ just then having to go and help some others troops in some other part of the jungle, or drop off fresh supplys and some more ammo, or those who flew the Dustoff, going out to get the wonded and flying them back to the hospital at base unload then fly back out to get the reat out of there. Knowing that some these polits hadn't sleept in any from 24 to 48 hours, some going three days nonstop, then when our Boys got State side they were treated like they had gone over there just to kill people didn't matter if they women, children,or the elderly. But what the public didn't see on the news camras was that the North Veitcon were doing to the people in the South., they only saw what our boys were doing. So if you see a Vet who served over there and thank them for what they, and their families sacrificed for their Country, and this goes for those Who are serving or has served our Country, Army,Marines,AirForce,Navy,Coast Guard, National Guard, Law Enforcement, and Firefighters.

Thanx for the post. wouldn't write it better myself. Disrespect for the soldiers, now and especially then in 60/70's, and disrespect for the conflict itself, its horrifying. Words like unnecessary war cover the facts it was all for good cause and nobody could fight it better than US at that time. And even tho the war was considered "lost", at the end, Nobody calls Saigon a Ho Chi Minh City. Right when you leave the airport, There is huge sign saying nothing else but "Saigon"
